Territorial water is at the same time a cinematographic object, a musical object and an architectural object. The device presents the public with a suspended screen, covered with a film of water.
This golden rectangle is both a support for video projection and a diffusion enclosure: what is audible is also visible there. The sounds materialize by vibrations on the surface of the water and physically mix with the projected images.
Presented in 2020 at the NEMO biennial at
the IAS (Saclay Astrophysical Institute).
NARCUSSUS OR THE 1ST. SOCIAL NETWORK
2019 - WATER - STEEL - WOOD -
SPEAKERS - VIDEO PROJECTION - LIGHT.
Narcissus or the 1st social network is an installation that offers visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in the myth of Narcissus through a 5 minutes experience.
The device is built around a piece of furniture dampened with water at its surface, enclosed by partitions, which immerses the whole in an (almost) total black. A heavy door gives access to it...
Immersive audio video installation.
Design David Coignard
Music Laurent Stoutzer
Scenography Pierre Sanz.
When the door closes on the visitor, a tension develops. The interior is intimate. When it enters, sensitive ground detects it and triggers a series of events : spatialized sounds, video projections, light effects, water drops, vibrations of water, of the body ... events that synchronize to each other and operate a gradual shift towards a world where thought gives way to sensations.
This space is both mental and physical, the virtual acts there on the material, the material on the virtual. Here is constructed an abyss of what is seen with what is lived, of the real with the fictional : the spectator is the actor, he attends the spectacle of one himself...
Narcissus or the first social network poses the myth of Narcissus and Echo as a metaphor for this reflection on the relationship between image and sound : cinematographic object, the installation integrates at the center of its creative process the functions of the screen and the pregnant.
Thus these fundamental materials of diffusion become both objects and subjects: between two imaginaries who seek each other (sound and image), the real (water matter) is interposed ; the device brings the physical matter into contact with the digital tool.
By capturing the myth of Narcissus, the installation creates a mise en abyme of the subject and its dissemination medium. The scenography gives the simple expression.
Presented in 2020 at the NEMO biennial at
the IAS (Saclay Astrophysical Institute).
EVENT'S BORDER
2014 - SPEAKERS - 3 VIDEO PROJECTIONS
Immersive audio video installation.
Design and production David Coignard
Audio video device on bullfighting after 15 years of research and image collection.
"The toreo is art at the limit, because its works are at every moment of their construction threatened to collapse, and it is on this very threat that they are built ... In the toreo art itself is a fight - and not only against the toro. He is fighting against his own defeat, even though he cannot exist without the risk of always breaking. "
The video presented is a simulation of the installation.
Presented in 2020 at the NEMO biennial at
the IAS (Saclay Astrophysical Institute).
